The IBM PC 5150

On August 12, 1981, International Business Machines announced a product that would revolutionize the computing world: the IBM Personal Computer—yours for the low, low price of just US$1,565. And that included a whopping 16 kilobytes of RAM! And a keyboard! But not a display or disk drives, because come on. In any case, the PC changed everything. And it also paved the way for the Mac, which really changed everything, less than three years later. Yes, I’m a Mac guy. But still, credit where credit is due! Nowadays, of course, the IBM PC seems about as powerful as an abacus, but we all had to start somewhere.
